The Opposition will set up a special panel to shadow each ministry which Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will be announcing in his Cabinet line-up today. Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who said this, added that Pakatan Rakyat members PKR, DAP and PAS had agreed to this.“The panels will have representatives from the three parties. The parties have agreed and submitted names for the panels.
“I have not announced the names yet but I will probably do so after our next meeting. The panels will be headed by MPs,” he told a press conference at the PKR headquarters here yesterday.
This is the second time that Anwar has promised to form a shadow Cabinet.
Although Pakatan Rakyat had promised to do so after the March 8 general election last year, it failed to materialise.
Anwar also said that the chief ministers and mentris besar in Pakatan Rakyat states were discussing ways to work together to overcome the economic slowdown.
He dismissed rumours that there would be another by-election with the resignation of Deputy Chief Minister (I) Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin, which took effect yesterday, adding that the latter would remain as assemblyman.
