BUTTERWORTH, March 16 (Bernama) -- Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) began probing an allegation that two of the party's state leaders were on the take.A panel set up to look into the allegation by Kepala Batas PKR Youth chief Amizudin Ahmat met Monday.
Amizudin was grilled for three hours by the panel headed by Penang State Assembly Speaker Abdul Halim Hussain at the state PKR headquarters at Seberang Jaya here.Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Abdul Halim said Amizudin had denied that he had made such allegation as stated in his (Amizudin) denial in the media on March 5.Abdul Halim said the panel would call several more people to testify before compiling a report to the state PKR in two weeks' time.
Amizudin, who was dropped from the 2009 Seberang Prai Municipal Council councillor line-up, had claimed that two party leaders had allegedly accepted bribes from three quarry companies operating in Prai.Meanwhile, Amizudin said he was confident that the panel would be fair in its investigation and would not report the matter to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).However, he was evasive and blamed the media for twisting his remarks.Other members of the panel were Penang State Assembly deputy speaker Tan Hock Leong, Batu Uban assemblyman S.Raveentharan and Pantai Jerjak assemblyman Sim Tze Tzin.
