Perak Update: 7 FEB 2009 SATURDAY ...Nizar holds special exco meeting

01:10pm Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, who has refused to step down as Perak Mentri Besar, held a special exco meeting at the mentri besar’s residence where they decided, among others, to bring budget airline Firefly’s service to Sultan Azlan Shah’s airport
12:45pm The Ipoh Barat PKR Youth has lodged a police report to counter the one made by its Umno counterpart for suggesting Ipoh Barat PKR division chief Fauzi Muda was slanderous in accusing Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak of buying over Pakatan Rakyat assemblymen in the state.
12:40pm Zambry said Nizar could take his time to move out of the Mentri Besar’s residence.
12:10pm The nine people detained during the riots in Kuala Kangsar Friday have been remanded till Sunday said Perak CPO Deputy Comm Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah.
He said police were seeking the public’s help to identify a woman and three men who were photographed taking part in the protests to stop the swearing-in of the new Perak Mentri Besar.
“We are also investigating blogs and SMSes that circulated false news of demonstrations and burning mosques,” he said.
He added that four FRU personnel were injured and two police vehicles damaged by stones and missiles hurled by the protestors on Friday.
11:50am New Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said that he was a Mentri Besar for all races and called on all Perak people to build the state together, build up confidence, and create peace and harmony.
“Any problems or differences among the people can be discussed and solved together. There is no need to fight in the streets,” he said at the Gerakan Chinese New Year Open House in Ipoh on Saturday.
11:40am Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said in Petaling Jaya that no one should challenge the decision of the Perak Sultan because challenging it would mean insulting the institution of constitutional monarchy
